Why does Windows show a SmartScreen warning on the first download?
Catenary is independent software that was just released. Windows shows this standard notice for new executables with no prior corporate reputation. Click "More info", then "Run anyway". The code is entirely local, safe and free of telemetry.
As the first developers install it, Microsoft SmartScreen learns the binary is safe and the warning disappears on its own.
And on macOS, with Gatekeeper?
macOS may say the app cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified. Right-click (or Control-click) the app in Finder and choose Open, then confirm. You only do this once: macOS remembers the choice for that copy.
Are you going to sign the installers?
Yes, and honestly: not yet. A Windows code-signing certificate costs around US$ 200 a year, and buying one before the product has sold anything would come out of nowhere. The plan is to fund it from the product itself, once Pro licences justify it. Until then the installer is unsigned, which is why the warnings above exist and why this page exists.
Which formats are available?
Windows: NSIS installer and ZIP (x64). macOS: DMG and ZIP (arm64 and x64). Linux: AppImage, DEB and tar.gz (x64).
Does it need an account or an internet connection?
Neither. Catenary runs entirely on your machine, has no account, sends no telemetry, and validates the Pro key offline through an Ed25519 signature checked locally. You bring your own API keys for the agents, and they never pass through us.
