Bring your setup
Coming from VS Code, Cursor or Ghostty? Catenary reads their preference files and shows exactly what it would change before it changes anything.
Where to start
Run Import Preferences from VS Code / Cursor / Ghostty from the command palette (⌘K), or click Import from VS Code, Cursor or Ghostty at the top of the Install tab of the Extensions Hub.
Pick the app, and the file picker opens where that app keeps its config. Catenary reads only the file you confirm. You can also browse to any file, or paste its contents.
What comes along
| From | What is imported |
|---|---|
VS Code or Cursor, settings.json | Editor font and size, format on save, minimap; terminal font and size, cursor blink |
VS Code or Cursor, keybindings.json | Shortcuts for the actions Catenary has |
Ghostty, config | Font, font size, cursor blink and keybinds |
Themes, extensions, language-specific blocks, chorded or when-scoped keybindings and commands with no Catenary action stay behind. They are listed under items ignored (no Catenary equivalent), so you see what was left out instead of assuming a full migration.
Choose, then undo
Every item has its own checkbox, and Import Selected applies only those. A shortcut that is already taken shows Also bound to and the action that has it. The source files are only read, never written.
Changed your mind? The confirmation offers Undo, and Undo Last Import in the same dialog brings back the preferences you had before.
